Atticus Writes An Update

What’s been going on?

“What’s going on? We played.”

Can you tell everyone what’s been going on?

I can’t. I have something in my mouth (He’s eating nuts. He finished). We played with shovels. We dig a big hole and we found a root with shovels. I talk about it. ‘kay. We trying to cut it. It was like a carrot. We were trying to get it out. It came out. We we’re trying to find more roots, but we couldn’t. So we stopped.”

What else did we do?

“We watched a movie of Bob the Builder and we eat popcorn.”

What else?

“We went behind the mountains (referring to our weekend trip to Big Bear with Papa and LuLu). We go behind the mountains. And you said we weren’t behind the mountains and then you said we were behind the mountains. And then we go to Big Bear and we go back and forth on the mountain.”

What did we do at Big Bear?

“We go down the basement and there’s stairs on the basement. We go onto the floor and it was cold and we go upstairs and we sleep. And then we go to…uhhh…I don’t know….the EATING PLACE! I don’t know where we go to next. It was Saturday too and I was with mommy and daddy all day and I need a drink of water (He’s getting a cup of water). I’m using this water for a little bit. What did we do next day? We. I’m going to just keep it there (he’s referring to the water) so I can keep drinking it.”

Can you tell them about the peanuts?

“The peanuts were GOOD! We can’t eat part of it. We need more peanuts. We are going to get more peanuts at LuLu’s house.”

What else do you want to tell everybody.

“We got. SHHHHH. Chicken place. And then we go back to…uhhh…Big Bear and then we got home. Want to write up another one. Okaaaay.”

What has Odyssey been doing?

“Her’s playing in the sand. Her going on a walk. Her going on a walk, Daddy. We got back home. We’re trying to figure out writing.”

What has daddy been doing?

“He has been doing…uhhh…eating and mommy’s eating and I was eating. And what’s next?”

What has mommy been doing?

“Her was carrying Odyssey. Mommy was carrying Odyssey, Okay. What did we write next?”

Can you tell them what your learning?

“I was learning about learning time. And I was writing wiggle worm and I was writing sail boats and I was tracing the dotted lines. And I was tracing, tracing, tracing, wiggle worms lines. I was learning about God. We was singing in church and we had…what did we had? OHHH! We had one of the sugar stuffs at church. At popluck.”

Did you learn anything else? Can you tell them about the withered hand?

“They healed the hands and then they put it straight out and he couldn’t grab and he could have this. Look. Like this. And then he put it straight out and it was OPEN! Okay. ‘kay.” (He learned about Jesus healing the withered hand.)

What do you want people to pray for?

“Seven, eight, fourteen, eigtheenths, seventeenths. We should pray for that.

Anything else we should pray for other than numbers?

Daddy and mommy and Odyssey and everybody and Marwilee and Dywan and everybody.”

Well. There you go. An update by Atticus.

One more thing. Don’t stop reading yet! (And you thought this was just a fun update. Well. It was..at first. But then I remembered that I do have one very important prayer request.)

Over the past year, I have been working on my doctrinal statement and my philosophy of ministry with Pastor David (pastor of our church). He has asked if I would be willing to candidate as a lay pastor. This month, I will be going through the final steps of the ordination process and our church will be voting at the end of October on whether I join the pastoral team at Faith Baptist Church of Cherokee Road. It’s a huge step for me and my family. One which we have been praying about for a long time and one which God has been leading me toward for many years. If you could just pray that our church has wisdom as they vote and that I would have wisdom as I answer questions.

That’s all. Thank you for reading!
