Fall 2021 | Mystery Box and YouTube

Camp Happenings

Hi everybody! I think this fall has been one of the busiest we’ve had in a
long time. We had campers almost every weekend at camp all the way up to
Christmas break. Which we are very thankful for! We thought camp was in a time
of shrink but it’s actually growing now—we are maxing out our buildings!

This fall, Bodie worked on his hardest video to date. A promotional video that would persuade adults that camp can be fun and enjoyable for adults not just kids.

He’s, also, working on a new video series for camp that is a little more laid back and much more fun to edit—it’s kind of like an Ironwood vlog. Bodie loves editing these because they don’t have to be as technical and perfect, instead he gets to focus on telling fun stories. He also fixed up another Wi-Fi tower, one more to go! Starlink, a new Wi-Fi he’s been trying out, is kind of working. It wasn’t working at all before, so this is an improvement. On top of all that, summer prep is in full swing. We’ve come up with a little idea we are calling the “Mystery Box.” What’s that you may wonder? It’s a box full of exciting things they get to do that week and the best part is Mr. Andrew will be inside. (Certain information has been redacted to protect the integrity of the Mystery Box.)

Hacienda has slowed down a little. We have been able to work on building up the kids toys and fixing some things up that we normally can’t when people are staying. Due to the slower pace, I have been helping Bodie out in my free time, and I’m working on painting my office which I NEVER thought I would get to.

Church Happenings

Youth group this year is 3 girls, so we decided to change up how we do some things. We got a GIANT coloring page (like 4 feet long!) and we also decided to read a book together. We made candles for one of our activities, another activity we decided to roast various foods on a campfire (apples were surprisingly good; however, we don’t recommend gushers). This semester we developed biblical principles for 9 different topics. We were supposed to finish that in December, but its January and we still have a few topics left. There’s just so much to say! We also joined orchestra and are really loving it, we both used to play in high school, and it has been fun to get back into it.

Giant coloring page! (It looks more impressive in person)

Family Happenings

We went on two deputation trips this fall, one to Arizona and one to northern California. They both went really well, and it was helpful to finally get the first one done. It always seemed like a daunting thing, especially with Atticus. It turned out to be really enjoyable and Atticus did great traveling…besides getting carsick. I have officially cleaned up throw-up, which was a first that I hoped to avoid but was told is inevitable (I know this is WAY to much information, but you asked to read our letters, so don’t blame me😉).

In our house, Bodie and his dad installed a new wood stove our Grandpa gave us. It was so warm and cozy over the holidays. I painted some more trim and we’re starting to plan out our master bathroom remodel. Bodie and his dad started a YouTube channel last year, their reasoning was, why not? I was skeptical but, to my surprise, it’s going well! I really did not expect much, which I know is terrible, but they have some (I’m probably not supposed to say some) fun videos! My dad gave us bolts to sell. They are a specific bolt for a Chevy block engine, and we have been able to make some money off them which has been super helpful as we raise support. Atticus is moving along. He is getting more bruises the faster he goes. He’s definitely confident in his walking skills, but I think his confidence is a little misplaced. He has learned to be a terror to the cat which has been enjoyable to watch (I think our cat secretly likes the attention).
